How much does excavation cost per hour?

Unfortunately, this is a question we cannot answer exactly without talking about what you’d like us to do. While certain elements of what we do as Monmouth excavation contractors are billed at one rate, other things we do are billed at another. Brush clearing will be different than septic tank excavation, for instance. Part of it depends on the equipment we need to bring into play, part of it depends on the skill level required of the operator, and there are other factors besides. That said, a ballpark figure to work with is $100-200 per hour. We encourage anyone interested in excavating services to give us a call.

What is trench excavation?

Trench excavation is the digging out of trenches or ditches to make way for pipe (as in some drainfields or for a drainpipe). Special care must be taken when digging a deep trenches to ensure the safety of those who need to work in or near the trench, as it is possible for the walls to collapse.

What sorts of excavation do you do?

We do all kinds of excavation, including site preparation and earthworks, foundation digging, trenching, brush and stump clearing, and we are specialists in removal and installation of septic tanks and alternative wastewater treatment technologies.

Are you licensed, bonded, and insured for excavation work?

Yes. We have these in place to protect you, our Monmouth customer.

What is grading?

Grading involves sculpting the ground so it is appropriately sloped for drainage, aesthetics, or to prepare for building – much of the time, all three!

What are the three main kinds of construction excavation you do?

  • Cut and fill, which is the removal of a relatively wide and shallow volume of dirt
  • Trench, which is digging in a deep and narrow fashion
  • Basement or foundation, which is digging for – you guessed it – a basement or foundation

There is a fourth kind, dredging, but we don’t do that (at least at the moment).

How much does digging a foundation cost?

Exact prices will depend on depth and area, as well whether the soil needs to be hauled away or will simply be moved to another location on-site. The national average is approximately $10,000 at this time.
